Vietnamese Shaking Beef (bò lúc lắc)

Bo Luc Lac (Shaking Beef) is a popular Vietnamese dish. No, Don’t think wrong, the beef doesn’t come to “shake” on your plate , the “shaking” here is the action of shaking the pan to toss the beef back and forth in order to sear all sides. Lost in translation, but this is still a great dish that is very quick and simple, while showcasing a harmony of Asian flavours.

Marinate the beef

  • 400gr beef tenderloin (or every cut of meat u prefer)
  • 2 Tbs soy sauce
  • 2 Tbs oyster sauce
  • 2 Tbs vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp corn flour
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 3 tbs red wine (or anywine u have)
  • 1 tsp seasame oil

Mix all the ingredients, let them marinate for about 3 hrs to over9

  • 2 tsp apple cider vinegar

Add vinegar  to the meat 30 mintutes before cooking time

Preparing the Veggies

  • 1/2 yellow onion
  • 1/2 red pepper
  • 1/2 green pepper
  • 1 carrot, boiled
  • Chips

Cook the beef

Heat up 2 tsp oild, stir fry onion, pepper until soft. get them out.

In the same pan, Heat up 2 tbs vegetable oil over medium high heat, when you see the smoke add the marinated beef in (just like cooking steak), stir fry around 1, 2 minutes, add cooked onion, pepper, carrot in. stir fry for more 30 seconds.

Serve hot with chips and baguette.
